Restored, repaired, upgraded, tested and working Apple Powerbook 180c

This Powerbook has undergone an extensive and professional restoration including re-enforcing the hinge mounts (most common damage on the PowerBook 100 series of laptops), disassembling, cleaning and lubricating the hinges, replacing the troublesome screen capacitors (recapping), replacing the power adapter capacitors on the low voltage end, replacing the dead hard disk with a BlueSCSI with 2GB of solid-state storage and unsoldering the dead clock/params battery (which has a tendency of leaking and destroying the surrounding electronics and PCB traces).

It is in absolutely amazing cosmetic condition for its age - it's complete with no cracks; even the often missing I/O ports flap is still present. The rubber feet are still present and in good condition - not mushy or disintegrated. No battery leaks. The screen is clean, sharp and bright with no burnt/stuck pixels.

 The laptop has been extensively tested and functions without any issues. Sound, floppy drive, external SCSI port, internal BlueSCSI  "hard disk", screen, keyboard, trackball, screen mirroring on external monitor, brightness control, volume control, reset switch, programmer's switch, power button, etc...: all tested and working.

The PowerBook 180c was the second color screen laptop model released by Apple and the first with a color active matrix screen. It was also the top of the line model in the PowerBook 100 series of laptops. It comes with a 68030 processor @ 33MHz and is equipped with a 68882 FPU coprocessor and a superb active matrix color screen. This unit is fully loaded with the optional modem (untested) and a 10MB memory upgrade bringing total memory to 14MB. The hard disk is a fast and spacious 1.8GB solid-state BlueSCSI with a fresh install of Mac OS 7.1 and many programs, games and utilities (not all tested and confirmed working with this model).

The unit comes with the original (dead) battery. The battery has not leaked; however it has bulged a bit and the casing has cracked. The battery locking tab has been removed from the battery and covers the battery hole on the laptop.

Includes the PowerBook 180c, the original (dead) battery with separated locking tab and the Apple power adapter. The adapter has been recapped on the low voltage end and is fully functional.

Despite this laptop having been extensively tested and found to be fully functional, it IS over 30 years old technology and as such, there is no guarantee offered, or implied, for continued functioning. This lot is being sold as-is with no returns accepted.

PowerBook 180c's are quite rare in any condition and much rarer complete and in working condition. This PowerBook 180c is a great, and fully functional, addition to any collection. You will not be disappointed...it's ready to plug-in and use for a trip back in time to the early 1990s!
