Nice, tested and working PowerBook 1400cs

This PowerBook 1400cs is in excellent functional condition. It is equipped with a PPC  603e processor @ 117MHz, 36MB of RAM (expanded), an 750 MB hard disk (tested and working flawlessly), a CD-ROM drive (tested and working flawlessly) and two PC-CARD/PCMCIA slots (tested and working flawlessly). The passive matrix LCD screen is bright, clear and in very good condition with both brightness and contrast controls working as intended. The CD-ROM drive is a user swappable drive and can be replaced by a floppy drive (not included). The original (depleted/dead) battery is included.

The installed operating system is a fresh installation of MacOS 7.6.1. The laptop boots perfectly from the hard disk.

Note: this laptop is equipped with a French (Canada) keyboard. It's layout is the standard US QWERTY layout, except that some of the punctuation keys are labelled as accented characters (these keys register as the standard punctuation characters with the installed, English, version of MacOS).

Cosmetically, the laptop exhibits a few minor issues: one clip holding down the palm rest to the base of the laptop is broken (small piece of tape on the left side), the small plastic hinge covers are missing (this is a typical issue with this model, as the hinge covers were made of a thin and brittle plastic that died out with age), the CD-ROM bezel is missing (again, this is a very typical issue with this model's CD-ROM drive - the drive bezel is screwed to the body of the drive and held in place by two flimsy plastic tabs. Note that this is strictly a cosmetic issue which does not affect functionality in any way). This unit is missing the screen's sliding cover - this is a cosmetic piece that came as an opaque plastic cover or a transparent cover allowing the user to customize the look of the lid by slipping a picture/design under the transparent lid.

Despite this laptop having been extensively tested and found to be fully functional, it IS almost 30 years old technology and as such, there is no guarantee offered, or implied, for continued functioning. This lot is being sold as-is.

Included are the laptop and an Apple original power adapter. Ready to plug-in and use.
