This is a custom made, modern, solid-state replacement for the Macintosh Portable failing/failed electromechanical hard disk.
The Portable’s hard disk was a very peculiar SCSI model designed specifically for the Portable. It used a 34 pin connector instead of the standard 50 pins SCSI connector and provided drive power through that 34 pins connector and not via the standard Molex connector used by SCSI drives. This adapter contains everything needed to boot the Portable from the included “hard disk”.
The adapter includes: (1) a custom 3D-printed caddy, (2) a cable converter to convert the 34 pins Portable cable to the standard 50 pins SCSI cable and split out the SCSI power, (3) a BlueSCSI solid-state hard disk emulator and (4) a microSD card with two 2GB hard disk images on it.
This adapter was tested in a Portable and confirmed to work. Ready to install and use.
