Description

Apple IIe Card for Macintosh LC - an Apple II inside your Mac – Recapped/Tested/Extras

This is a rare and mint Apple IIe Card in its retail box with the Apple-original Y-Cable and a full complement of working accessories such as a compatible 5.25" floppy drive and a Suncom Tac1+ joystick!

This Apple IIe card is very clean without any sign of corrosion. It has been recapped, tested and confirmed to work in a Macintosh Color Classic. It's ready to use.

This listing includes: the Apple IIe card complete with the original white spacer/support, the elusive, factory-original Y-cable, the original white retail box with the original packing foam, a copy (not original) of the setup floppy disk, a compatible 5.25" Apple A9M0107 floppy disk drive and even a compatible Suncom Tac1+ joystick (in its original box). The floppy drive has a couple of small cracks/dings on the corners of the front plastic bezel; however they do not affect its functionality in any way. The drive has been disassembled, serviced, lubricated, cleaned and tested - it reads, writes and formats floppies flawlessly. One of the rubber feet on the disk drive is not original.  With the floppy drive connected to the Apple IIe card, one can run Apple II programs off floppies or create floppies containing programs, utilities and games for use with an Apple II computer. Note 1: The original documentation and the original setup floppy are missing; however a copy of the setup disk is included. The documentation is available for download on the web.  Note 2: The ~30 years old Apple IIe Card cardboard box has some minor shelf wear, some minor fraying of the cardboard lid and some light stains, however it's in pretty good condition considering its age. Note 3: the joystick has been lightly tested for basic operation and seems to function as intended. Two of the joystick’s rubber feet are not original.

The Apple IIe card is compatible with the Macintosh LC, LC II, LC III, Performa and Color Classic systems with a vacant Processor Direct Slot (PDS) and running MacOS System 7.1 or System 7.5. It requires a Motorola 68020 or 68030 Processor and at least 8 Megabytes of RAM. 68040 systems including the Macintosh Quadra 605 and LC 575 will function as long as MacOS System 7.5.3 or System 7.5.5 are installed without 32-bit Memory Addressing enabled (The card will not work on systems running Mac OS 7.6.1).

Despite this lot having been tested and found to be functional, it IS almost 30 years old technology and as such, there is no guarantee offered or implied, of continued functioning. This lot is being sold as-is with no returns accepted.
