Description

Vintage Apple Mac Macintosh SE FDHD/Superdrive 1MB (upgraded to 4MB)

Vintage (from 1990) compact Apple Mac. Model Macintosh SE /M5011. The computer is in A1 functional condition and in great cosmetic condition (except for some slight yellowing of the plastic caused by age). All original, except for the memory which was upgraded to the full 4MB. No battery leaks and no bulging capacitors. Recently cleaned. The built-in 40MB hard disk has been fully tested and contains no bad blocks. The Superdrive floppy drive has been dusted, cleaned, serviced and lubricated - reads, writes, formats and ejects floppy disks without any issues. The Superdrive is capable of accessing different floppy formats: single-sided 400KB, double sided 800 KB and standard double-sided 1.4MB high density floppy disks. The screen is clear, bright and sharp. The computer starts up normally with the typical chime when powered on.

Includes the often missing reset/programmer's switch, the power cord, an Apple keyboard, an Apple ADB mouse and two original manuals. The clock/PRAM backup battery has been removed. MacOS 6.0.8 is installed on the hard disk along with some utilities and games.

Fully tested and working: sound, internal and external SCSI ports, internal and external floppy ports, ADB ports, brightness control, etc...

Note that this is the first compact Mac with a 1.4MB drive. The benefits of having this floppy drive is that it’s possible to create floppies for use with it on any Mac or PC equipped with a USB floppy drive!

The Macintosh SE FDHD/Superdrive  was released on January 16, 1986 and discontinued on October 15, 1990. It was the first Macintosh with a PDS expansion slot and the first model to feature a built-in hard disk. This particular Macintosh SE (B01) S/N F101686EB01 was the 9,466th  Mac manufactured during the 16th week of 1990 in Fremont, California, USA.

Everything is working as it should.... Superb, fully functioning, conversation piece in great condition.
