Classic, iconic, vintage (32+ years old!) Apple Mac Plus. Model Macintosh Plus 1MB/M0001A. The computer is in A1 functional condition and in superb cosmetic condition (with barely any discernible yellowing of the plastic case caused by age). Memory upgraded to the full 4MB. No battery leaks and no bulging or leaking capacitors. Disassembled, cleaned, serviced and nicely detailed. The 800KB floppy drive has been cleaned and re-lubricated - reads, writes, formats and ejects floppy disks without any issues. The screen is clear, bright and sharp. The Mac starts up normally with a loud bong when powered on. Includes the original Apple mouse (model M0100), the Macintosh Plus user manual (French) in like new condition, a generic power cord, 3D printed reset/programmer buttons and a bootable Mac OS 6.0.8 floppy disk (copy).
Note that some modifications were made to this Mac by its previous owner: (1) the inside of the case seems to have had a fan glued to it at some point in time (it has since been removed, however some of the yellowed epoxy glue used to hold the fan in place remains), (2) the wire harness connecting the analog board to the logic board was (very professionally) modified to tap into the signals and (3) a header has been soldered to the CPU pins (very handy for debugging or for modifying the system).
The X RIFA capacitor on the analog board has been replaced. All the problematic solder joints on the analog board have been reflowed. The flyback transformer has had some fresh corona dope applied. All power supply voltages have been adjusted to specs. The computer is ready to plug in and use!
This computer’s case is in absolutely amazing condition – super clean with nothing but very minute and superficial use marks. The computer has been extensively tested, sound, keyboard port, mouse port, internal and external floppy ports, SCSI port - all working as intended.
In addition to the keyboard and mouse ports, this Mac has built-in ports for connecting a printer, a modem, an external floppy disk drive (or floppy disk emulator) and a SCSI port to connect hard disks, hard disk emulators, scanners, etc..
The Macintosh Plus 1MB was released on January 16, 1986 and discontinued on October 15, 1990. It was the first Macintosh with enough memory to be considered “useful”. This particular Macintosh Plus S/N F90225XM001A was the 2513th Mac manufactured during the 2nd week of 1989 in Fremont, California, USA. At the time, its retail price was USD$2599.00
This is one of a handful of Apple models which has the signatures of the design team (including Steve Jobs') molded on the inside of the case (See pictures).
Everything is working as it should.... Superb, fully functioning conversation piece from the early years of personal computers. Just add a keyboard and it’s ready to use.
