Description

Restored/recapped Vintage Apple Mac Macintosh LC II

Some thirty years ago, in March 1992, Apple introduced an upgrade to their LC computer model: the Macintosh LC II. It was a low-cost, simple to upgrade, computer in a “pizza box” case.

This unit is the model with one floppy drive and a hard disk. It’s in amazing cosmetic AND functional condition. It is equipped with 16MHz 68030 processor, 10MB of RAM (the maximum supported by this model) and an 80MB hard disk.

Other than some barely perceptible yellowing of the case plastics, the unit is in superb condition: complete - no missing or broken parts. Fully functional. No battery leaks and no corroded printed circuit board traces. The inside has been dusted and cleaned – even the fan blades have been cleaned! All the original, electrolytic capacitors on the logic board have been replaced (recapped - 2022) – considering that the original capacitors lasted 30 years, the computer is ready for another 30 years of service. The SuperDrive floppy disk drive has been disassembled, serviced, cleaned and lubricated - it works perfectly: reads, writes, formats and ejects disks. The SCSI hard disk drive has been fully tested and functions perfectly with no bad blocks. The clock/params battery has been removed.

Includes the Macintosh LC II, an Apple power cord, an Apple ADB mouse, some documentation including the Macintosh User’s Guide (sealed) and a set of Mac OS 7.0.1 installation floppy disks.

Considering the age of the system, and despite the fact that it’s functioning perfectly, it is being sold “as is”.
