Description

Restored/Recapped/Upgraded Vintage Apple Mac Macintosh LC III

Almost thirty years ago, in February 1993, Apple introduced an upgrade to their LC II computer model: the Macintosh LC III. It was a low-cost, simple to upgrade, computer in a “pizza box” case.

Other than some yellowing of the case, this unit is in very good cosmetic AND functional condition. It is equipped with 25MHz 68030 processor, 12MB of RAM (expandable to 36MB) and a modern BlueSCSI electronic hard disk.

This unit is in superb condition: complete - no missing or broken parts. Fully functional. No battery leaks and no corroded printed circuit board traces. The computer has been dusted and cleaned – even the fan blades have been cleaned! All the original, electrolytic capacitors on the logic board AND the power supply have been replaced (recapped - 2022) – considering that the original capacitors lasted 30 years, the computer is ready for another 30 years of service. The SuperDrive floppy disk drive has been disassembled, serviced, cleaned and lubricated - it works flawlessly: reads, writes, formats and ejects disks. The original SCSI hard disk drive has been replaced by a BlueSCSI. This is a fully electronic, modern equivalent of a mechanical hard disk with a 2GB capacity. The keyboard has been fully tested. The original (dead) clock/params battery has been discarded and the computer is ready to receive a fresh battery (if so desired).

Includes the Macintosh LC III, an original Apple ADB Keyboard, an original Apple ADB mouse, a generic ADB cable and a generic power cord. Note: the keyboard has two clean holes (3-4mm in diameter) safely drilled on either side - it was likely bolted to a desk.

MacOS 7.5 is installed on the BlueSCSI with many utilities, programs and games. Just plug it in and travel back in time to the early 90’s....

Considering the age of the system, and despite the fact that it’s functioning correctly, it is being sold “as is”.
