Vintage Apple Mac Macintosh 512K/800KB floppy/French keyboard

Classic, iconic, vintage Apple Mac 512K (35 years old!).  Model Macintosh 512K M0001W. This computer is an original Mac 512K which has been upgraded to a 512Ke equivalent with an 800KB floppy drive and Mac Plus ROMs (these ROMs are for accessing the 800KB drive). This Mac comes with the “short” French keyboard (the keyboard has essentially an almost identical layout to the US keyboard, but with accented character instead of the usual punctuation). 

This particular unit is in A1 functional condition and in great cosmetic condition with even yellowing of its plastic case. All original. Recently dusted, cleaned and serviced. The computer's analog board has had its RIFA capacitors replaced (these old capacitors have a tendency of drying up and unexpectedly blowing up with a cloud of awful smelling and lingering smoke). The troublesome solder joints on the analog board have been reflowed and a fresh layer of corona dope has been applied to the flyback transformer to avoid video issues. The 800KB floppy drive has been dusted, cleaned of all old, hardened, grease and lubricated - reads, writes, formats and ejects floppy disks without any issues. The screen is clear, bright and sharp. Starts up normally with a loud Apple "bong”. Includes a generic power cord, the original “short” French Apple keyboard (model M0110F - French Canadian layout), the original Apple mouse (model M0100), the original keyboard cable and the programmer’s/reset switch. All keyboard keys function as intended. The mouse has been cleaned, and works perfectly. The rubber pads are still present and in good condition on both the base of the computer and underneath the keyboard. Note that the keyboard "N" keycap is a "V" keycap with an extra "leg" added to make it look like  an "N".     

The computer has been extensively tested: sound, voltages, internal floppy drive,  external floppy port, keyboard port, keyboard, mouse, mouse port, video, etc...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

This Macintosh 512K, which bears serial number F508X5PM0001W, is the 36,029^th manufactured during the 8th week of 1985 in Fremont, CA. 

This model is getting to be quite scarce and finding one which is in good condition, reconditioned, tested and fully functional, like this unit, is not easy...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

This is a fantastic opportunity to own a unique artifact of computing history: this is one of a handful of Apple models which have the signatures of the design team (including Steve Jobs') molded on the inside of the case. 

Despite this computer having been extensively tested and found to be fully functional, it IS over 30 years old technology and as such, there is no guarantee offered, or implied, for continued functioning. This lot is being sold as-is with no returns accepted.
