Description

Vintage Apple Mac Macintosh 512Ke/800KB floppy/Extended keyboard

Classic, iconic, rare, vintage Apple Mac 512Ke (35+ years old!).  Model Macintosh 512Ke/ M0001E (e for enhanced). This computer is the last version of the Mac 512K. It is identical to the original 512K except for it having an 800KB floppy drive factory installed along with the Macintosh Plus ROMs for accessing the 800KB floppy drive.  This model also came with the extended Plus keyboard (with a numeric keypad). This particular unit is in A1 functional condition and in great cosmetic condition (with barely any yellowing of the plastic case). All original. No battery leaks. Recently dusted, cleaned and serviced. The computer's analog board has had its electrolytic capacitors replaced (recapped). The 800KB floppy drive has been dusted, cleaned of all old, hardened, grease and lubricated - reads, writes, formats and ejects floppy disks without any issues. The screen is clear, bright and sharp. Starts up normally with a loud Apple "bong”. Includes an Apple power cord, the original extended Canadian French Apple keyboard (model M0110A C - French Canadian layout), the original Apple mouse (model M0100), the original keyboard cable and much of the original documentation (in French). The keyboard has been fully disassembled, dusted and cleaned; all keycaps have been washed and cleaned - all keys work as intended. The mouse has been fully cleaned, including the internal rollers, sensors and ball - works perfectly. The rubber pads are still present and in good condition on both the base of the computer and underneath the keyboard.

 Two original, bootable, Mac OS 5.1 (French) floppy disks are included.

The Macintosh 512Ke was officially released in April 1986 and was sold for less than 18 months. This particular Macintosh 512Ke, serial F6307B0M0001E - is the 8466th Mac manufactured during the 30th week of 1986 in Fremont, California, USA;

This is a fantastic opportunity to own a unique artifact of computing history: this is one of a handful of Apple models which have the signatures of the design team (including Steve Jobs') molded on the inside of the case.

 Everything is working as it should.... Superb, fully functioning, conversation piece in amazing condition. Ideal unit for collectors, for exhibition, for display, for decoration, as a prop, etc..
